Invisalign Makes Tooth Realignment Easier Than Ever

Having misaligned teeth is no fun, but it’s worth it to go through the process of straightening them out! In the “old days,” there was basically only one option – traditional metal braces.

Braces are still a viable and very popular treatment option. That said, many patients are turning to a new alternative that corrects malocclusions without the need for periodic wire adjustments as with traditional braces.

If we could sum up the various advantages that Invisalign brings to the tooth-realignment process in one word, it would be “convenience.” Invisalign simply makes the whole process a good deal easier.

Here are 7 key ways that choosing Invisalign aligner trays as your preferred tooth realignment method can make the process easier.

1. Straighten Out Teeth Wire-free!

With Invisalign, you might say you benefit from “wireless” tooth realignment. Now, that’s something to smile about!

Metal braces not only require you to wear metal wires that connect to brackets on each tooth, but you also have to have those wires tightened and adjusted periodically. Oftentimes, this has to be done every 2 to 3 months.

Invisalign uses, instead, a series of acrylic aligner trays that are completely wire-free. Each tray is contoured to put gentle pressure on your teeth until they move into the right position for you to wear the next aligner. It’s like a “tag-team” method, basically, and it works

2. Invisalign Lets Your Smile Shine Through!

One of the main reasons that many people are reluctant to wear metal braces is because they fear being called “metal mouth” or are simply self-conscious about how their teeth look.

Invisalign lets you smile with confidence. The acrylic plastic is very transparent, so much so that most people won’t be able to tell you are wearing anything on your teeth.

Just the fact that Invisalign is, as the name implies, “invisible” can make it a lot easier for many to feel comfortable wearing them.

3. Invisalign Requires Fewer Dental Visits

Not only are there no wires to tighten with Invisalign, but you will not (on average) need to see your orthodontist nearly as often with Invisalign treatment as with metal braces.

On your very first appointment, you can have ALL of the Invisalign trays custom-manufactured by the dental lab. Then you just take them home with you and wear each one when its time comes.

Of course, you eventually need a checkup to ensure all is going as planned. But you probably will have to sit in a dental chair only half as often during treatment as you would have to do were you wearing braces.

4. Oral Hygiene Is Easier With Invisalign

One of the biggest limitations of traditional braces has always been the difficulty in keeping them clean.

Dental care from day to day becomes more difficult. You may need special dental tools to clean around the brackets and wires, and you have to learn how to use them. And you will need teeth cleanings on most/all of your orthodontic appointments.

Not so with Invisalign! You simply take your aligner trays off in order to brush, floss, and follow your regular oral hygiene routine. Then, you simply put the trays back on.

5. Invisalign Is Easier On Your Diet!

Being unable to consume many of your favorite foods and drinks for many months or several years is surely not easy to take. Wearing braces means avoiding certain foods, and it means extra carefulness of dental care after eating with certain other foods that you may be able to still occasionally eat.

Those who use Invisalign can essentially eat anything they want. You are no more restricted in diet than before using Invisalign because you can remove the trays during meals and then promptly put them back in place after brushing and flossing.

6. You Can Retain Much Of Your Lifestyle

Wearing braces can put some limitations on your lifestyle. Not only will your diet, of necessity, change, but you will need to avoid playing most sports and doing certain other physically vigorous activities. You don’t want to damage your braces or hurt your mouth.

With Invisalign, there are very few lifestyle changes that must be made. You need to wear your aligner trays at least 22 hours per day. You need to rinse them out and clean them occasionally. But you can engage in most sports, exercise, and other activities as before.

7. Treatment Time Is Often Shorter With Invisalign

Finally, Invisalign treatment is easier simply because it tends to be shorter. Most people wear braces from 1 to 3 years, while 6 months to 18 months is more typical with Invisalign.

So, there are some cases where braces are worn for less time, but not on average. And when you are talking about the exact same tooth realignment job to be accomplished, Invisalign almost always does it faster.
